The Wisdom You Needed Was Already There

Sometimes Guidance Returns Instead of Arriving

Something happened recently that led me back to a few journal entries from 2008, and what I found there gave me exactly the reflection I needed.

I have a habit of revisiting old journals now and then, especially from the period when I was first beginning to receive messages from the Unseen world.

Back then, it was all very new to me. I was learning how to listen, how to trust, and how to quiet my mind enough to receive something that did not come from my thinking mind.

When I reread those entries this time, something unexpected happened.

They shifted my energy.

Not dramatically. No heavenly trumpets. No angels suddenly appearing beside the couch, although that would have been nice.

It was much quieter than that.

Something inside me softened. The heaviness I had been carrying began to lift.

What struck me most was the timing.

Those words had been written eighteen years earlier, yet they were meeting me perfectly in the present.

It reminded me that guidance does not always arrive as something new.

Sometimes the wisdom we need has already been given.

We may have heard it. We may even have understood it intellectually.

But understanding wisdom and embodying it are very different things.

Sometimes life has to soften us, humble us, or simply give us enough experience before something we once heard can finally reach us at a deeper level.

Hurry Slows You Down

Although those old journal entries touched on different things, one message kept coming through:

Slow down.

Be patient.

Move from the mind to the heart.

Feel what is actually here.

One line jumped out at me:

Hurry slows you down.

What a paradox.

The mind usually believes the opposite.

It thinks speed gets us there faster. If we think harder, push more, keep moving, and solve everything quickly enough, surely we will arrive sooner at peace, clarity, healing, or whatever else we are chasing.

But often the rushing itself creates the resistance.

It tightens the body. It scatters the mind. It disconnects us from the present. It makes it harder to hear the quieter voice within.

I know this pattern well.

For much of my life, I had a very fast mind. In many ways, it served me. It helped me build a business, solve problems, make decisions, and function in a world that rewards speed and productivity.

But a fast mind is not always the best guide for the deeper journey.

It can be very useful when you are running a company.

It is not always as useful when you are trying to hear your Soul.

Apparently, patience is one of those lessons I get to learn more than once.

The Mind Cannot Do Everything

Another journal entry spoke about moving from the head to the heart.

That sounds beautiful, but actually living it is something else.

The head wants to understand. The heart wants to feel.

The head wants proof. The heart is often asked to trust before proof appears.

The head wants control. The heart allows.

This does not mean the mind is bad. The mind is a remarkable tool.

The problem begins when we ask it to do a job it was never designed to do.

The mind cannot always reason us into peace.

It cannot always think us into trust.

It cannot always explain us into love.

Eventually another form of intelligence has to enter the room.

The intelligence of the heart.

The intelligence of the body.

The intelligence of intuition.

The intelligence of stillness.

Learning to Stay in the Gap

Another journal entry described becoming comfortable with what is called the gap.

That space where there is no immediate answer.

No conclusion.

No obvious next step.

No certainty.

Most of us do not like the gap very much.

We start thinking harder. We replay conversations. We imagine future scenarios. We scroll, distract ourselves, organize something that did not urgently need organizing, or find some other way to avoid not knowing.

But the gap is not empty.

The gap is often where deeper guidance begins.

It is the space where something new can emerge if we do not rush in too quickly and fill it with noise.

Sometimes clarity needs room.

Sometimes wisdom needs silence.

Sometimes we have to stop demanding an answer long enough to receive one.

Stop Trying to Be Spiritual and Start Being Honest

The third journal entry was about emotions.

More specifically, it reminded me not to judge where I am emotionally or treat difficult feelings as proof that something has gone wrong.

That is a lesson many of us on a spiritual path need.

We can quietly begin believing that if we were healing properly, awakening properly, trusting properly, or becoming conscious enough, we would no longer feel anger, fear, sadness, frustration, jealousy, resentment, or self-doubt.

Then when those emotions appear, we assume we have failed.

But what if difficult emotions are not proof that something is wrong?

What if they are part of the healing itself?

Emotions are energy in motion.

When they are allowed to move, they can move through us.

When they are suppressed, they often become stuck.

Then we feel heavy, flat, irritated, disconnected, anxious, or numb.

We may think something is wrong with us when something within us is simply asking to be felt.

This is where we can get off track spiritually. We try to be peaceful instead of honest. We try to rise above what we feel before we have actually felt it. We try to look spiritual instead of being real.

But healing rarely works that way.

Eventually, whatever we keep pushing down asks to be seen.

The anger. The grief. The fear. The disappointment. The tired or vulnerable part that can no longer pretend everything is fine.

These parts do not need to be shamed.

They need to be met.

The Wisdom Was Always Saying the Same Thing

As I sat with those old journal entries, I realized they were not really three separate teachings.

They were one.

Slow down enough to hear.

Move from the mind to the heart.

Feel what is actually here.

That was the path I was being shown in 2008.

Apparently, I needed a refresher course.

And maybe that is why those entries affected me so deeply.

They did not give me new information. They returned me to something true.

Perhaps that is what wisdom often does.

It does not always bring us something unfamiliar.

Sometimes it brings us home to what our Soul has known all along.

We live in a world that continually pushes us toward more.

More speed. More noise. More urgency. More output. More pressure to become an improved version of ourselves.

But perhaps the next step is not always to do more.

Maybe it is to slow down enough to hear. To pause long enough to feel. To soften enough to receive.

Healing does not always come from reaching for something new.

Sometimes it comes from returning to something true.

The wisdom does not expire.

The Soul does not rush.

The heart does not shout.

And sometimes the guidance we need most has been waiting quietly within us all along.

Activate the Wisdom

Turning insight into embodied change

Think of one piece of wisdom you already know but may not be fully living right now.

Perhaps it is:

Slow down.

Trust.

Feel what is here.

Stop forcing.

Be patient.

Let go.

Instead of searching for another answer, ask yourself:

What do I already know that I have stopped listening to?

Then notice where you may be rushing.

Where are you pushing for certainty, trying to force an outcome, or demanding that something happen faster than it is ready to happen?

Give yourself a few quiet minutes without trying to solve anything.

Let yourself enter the gap.

And if an uncomfortable emotion appears, do not immediately judge it or try to rise above it.

Simply ask:

What is asking to be felt right now?

You may discover that the next piece of guidance does not need to be found.

It needs to be remembered.
