Embrace What You Feel

Ego wants us to believe that we are our feelings. When we identify with unpleasant or dark feelings, we suffer because it means we are somehow defective, deficient, or bad. The secret is to sever the connection between our thoughts and emotions, detach, observe the feelings with the curiosity of a stranger, and let them pass through us. Pain occurs only when we allow the mind to grab hold of and attach significance to the feelings which it then spins into stories having negative future outcomes.
